If abortion is the killing of a “baby”…?

Question by JillyBean: If abortion is the killing of a “baby”…?
Why is it okay to have an abortion in case of rape? Don’t you either believe it’s a baby or you don’t? How can it be a baby if you forgot to use contraceptives? But, if you got raped, it’s not a baby…it’s just a token of an unpleasant experience. What’s the difference? Does the baby know the difference when it’s aborted? Isn’t it just a convience for the rape victim? Or maybe it’s not a “baby” in either situation. Maybe it’s just a cluster of cells that aren’t ready to mature into a baby yet. Why should a rape victim have sympathies about her abortion, but any other woman needs to “suffer the concequences” of her actions by being forced to become a mother? If a woman is forced to give birth because she missed her birth control (let’s not put any of this on the guy), who REALLY suffers for it? Her or the baby? Isn’t that the ultimate “red letter”? How should the baby eventually feel about being born as a punishment to it’s mother? Is that part of the “family values” rhetoric?
***cadisneygirl*** Most abortions ARE for the physical or emotional health of the mother, and probably moreso, the child. Having a child you don’t want couldn’t be more damaging to either of them.

  1. Well the point is moot since it is simply removing unwanted tissue.
That’s why there is never a death certificate issued at an abortion.

  2. If you are unfortunately raped, it wasn’t your fault at all that you’re pregnant. It can go either way to me, but there are certain circumstances that are more flexible to the idea of an abortion.

  3. Actually, God and the Bible are not against abortion or killing babies:

First, about 1/3 of all pregnancies end in a natural abortion. This makes God (who controls everything) the biggest abortionist of all.

    Leviticus 27:6
If it is a person between one month and five years, set the value of a male at five shekels of silver and that of a female at three shekels of silver.
[NOTE: Babies have just monetary value, not moral value, and no value is placed on fetuses or babies less than one month old.]

    Numbers 5:21
here the priest is to put the woman under this curse of the oath – “may the LORD cause your people to curse and denounce you when he causes your thigh to waste away and your abdomen to swell (causes you to have a miscarrying womb and barrenness).”

    Exodus 21:22,23
“If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely [has a miscarriage] but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life.”

    Hosea 9:14
Give them, O LORD — what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry.

    Hosea 13:16
… because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open.

    2 Kings 15:16
At that time Menahem, starting out from Tirzah, attacked Tiphsah and everyone in the city and its vicinity, because they refused to open their gates. He sacked Tiphsah and ripped open all the pregnant women.

    Numbers 31:17
“And kill every woman who has slept with a man.”

    Psalm 137:8-9
O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.

  4. Abortion is always murder and never acceptable.
If you abort a rape baby you create a second victim and a second crime.
If a man commits a crime like robbery you throw him in jail not his kids

I’m guessing I get about 10 thumbs down.

@Peace and love that’s your name?
Last time I checked I still live in America and my opinion is just as valid as yours regardless of my gender and number of crimes committed against me and murder is every ones business
So for know I will continue to care and speak my peace
    @ Peace and Love
Is adoption a word you have heard of. And again this is America. Until you rewrite the constitution I will continue to voice my opinion regardless of what has happened to me or you.
How about you keep your opinion of abortion to yourself until you know what it’s like to be murdered in the womb by your mother

  5. I don’t think it’s conscious enough to care that it wasn’t given a chance at life. If I were an aborted rape fetus I think I would be happier knowing my mom didn’t have to live with the reminder of her rape for the next eighteen years.

  6. It is not okay to kill. Period.

Abortion is murder and it doesn’t matter if the pregnancy was rape or pleasure. The baby is a created being that will be in Heaven. We know this as fact because every doctor will confirm that in order to make the “fetus” disappear, there must be death. That simple!

The woman and the baby suffer for murder but the woman is the one that is punished by God for Sin for the baby is pure innocence.

I killed four times…three unborn Souls and myself because I listened to the World.

Wow The World +YOU ALL+ are cruel indeed.

I’ve noticed that everyone that is for abortion…has already been born –Ronald Reagan

    **To Peace and Love**
What part of Peace and Love is Murder?

  7. Abortion is the dissolution of a fertilized egg.

You eat chicken eggs? They may not be fertilized, but if it weren’t for you frying them up in your pan, they would have been fertilized, and then hatched into baby chicks!

    It’s the same thing.

I am pro-choice. Btw, if abortion is murder, is having a miscarriage manslaughter in the second degree, or do you let them off for that?

  8. I really feel like people need to make adjustments to the language they use when they approach this issue. At 1 month, is the being inside the womb considered the same as a “baby”? I would argue no: a baby is a fully formed young human being OUTSIDE the womb. It is rhetorical to call a fetus or embryo a “baby,” because nobody wants to hurt a baby – but this is the language that pro-lifers use in order to score political points.

  9. So a 15 year old girl gets raped and you’re saying she unequivocally has to have the baby? I hope you aren’t serious.
And the daddy would have visitation rights. That’s just wrong.

  10. The fetus does not know anything since it is not conscious yet , you cannot force a women to continue on with he pregnancy if she does not wish it.

  11. The point is each person should have the freedom to come to this decision themselves, as each person has sovereignty over their own body. It might be that one raped woman will decide it is wrong to have an abortion, and another decide it is right. Both are fine.

  12. Every unwanted baby in this world doesn’t have the fault of borning.
No one. It`s true. A baby can be the consequence of someone`s acts. But still, IT’S A BABY FOR GOD SAKES! I don’t blame every raped mother in the world. I was born from a raped and my mother always blamed me for that. It has been a really hard problem to me. She never took care of me and now she regrets it. I don’t blame her for being raped but I do expect her to understand the roles in this family and I’m just a human with no fault at all for existing.

  13. Which is exactly why I don’t support rape being justification for abortion.

It’s not punishing the mother in the slightest. It’s accepting that we don’t have the medical technology to build an artifical womb and drawing a line in the sand that from the moment of conception until the moment of natural death we will not support the killing of any human being. If we could yank the unborn baby out and stick it in an artificial womb instead, I’d be absolutely all for it so as not to force the woman to be stuck with it.

Not to mention that women who are raped and become pregnant having better treatment outcomes if she carries to term instead of aborting. Frankly — I consider it protecting the woman.

” Btw, if abortion is murder, is having a miscarriage manslaughter in the second degree, or do you let them off for that?”

Most miscarriages are spontaneous and occur without any intent or negligence on the part of the mother. That bears no moral weight.

If the woman was willfully or greviously negligent, then yes, yes I do support her being tried for manslaughter.

  14. Well a lot of pro-lifers say that if you choose to have sex then you should be ready to deal with the consequences, but if you are raped then you aren’t choosing you are being forced and thus they either have to change their argument or create an exception for rape. Think of it like this, if you are a pilot on a public commercial plane with a passenger with balloons of coke in his stomach have you committed a crime? No. But if you are a Columbian smuggler who has the dope in his stomach ar you committing a crime? Yes. Either way the drugs are getting here. That is probably how they think of it.

cadisneygirl: Murder (homicide) is defined as one human killing another, and from an objective sense a fetus isn’t a human. And legally, since they weren’t born in any country then no goverment entity has control of them. Personally, I think it’s wrong to kill a sentient being (fetuses just like pigs, cows, chickens, etc.) aren’t sentient. And if you say a life is still a life then tell me do you eat meat? Because that’s a life. Do you eat fruits/veggies? Those are lives as well.

And to the people talking about a girl should still have the baby after being raped, how can you know what she’s going through? I have a friend who was raped and although I can never know (thankfully) how bad she feels I can get a ballpark estimate, and it’s something no one should have to deal let alone have to raise a baby caused by it (fortunately she didn’t get pregnant).
